It's time to go on a journey. Let's explore some of the best icons from the world of sport.

Franz Beckenbauer is a German former professional footballer and manager. 

Quick summary of his career

During an illustrious career, he was nicknamed "The Emperor" because of his elegant style, dominance and leadership on the field, The first name "Franz" is reminiscent of the Austrian emperors. He is widely regarded to be one of the greatest players in the history of the sport.

He was a versatile player who started as a midfielder, Beckenbauer made his name as a central defender. He is often credited with having invented the role of the modern sweeper. Very few players have had that level of impact on the sport.

Edward Paul Sheringham, known by most as Teddy Sheringham, is another football icon.

Quick summary of his career

He began his career at Millwall, where he scored 111 goals between 1983 and 1991. The forward is the club's second all-time leading scorer. He eventually left to join First Division Nottingham Forest. A year later, Sheringham scored Forest's first-ever Premiership goal.

He then spent spent several seasons at Tottenham before achieving major success at Manchester United.

During United's historic 1998/1999 season, they won a Treble consisting of the Premier League. FA Cup and UEFA Champions League. Teddy only scored 5 goals, but 2 of these were very important. He scored United's 1st goal in a 2-0 FA Cup final over Newcastle, then a late equaliser in the Champions League final over Bayern Munich.

From The Archives: Andy Murray wins Wimbledon

Our From The Archives series look back at some of the greatest sporting moments from across Europe. First up, it's a famous tennis match involving Andy Murray. Context By the time the 2013 Wimbledon Tennis Championship had come around, Britain had waited 77 years for a men's champion at the iconic tournament. Murray had been improving every year by this point and had reached the final the previous year. He had also picked up Olympic Gold and won the US Open. What happened then? After a gruelling afternoon in searing temperatures, Murray had finally followed in the footsteps of Fred Perry and was victorious at Wimbledon.
